SENTRY: Project Framework and Institutional Structure
SENTRY (A Precision Agriculture Solution for Plant Pathogen Surveillance and Risk Assessment) is a high-impact Research and Innovation Action (RIA) funded by the European Union under the prestigious Horizon Europe framework programme.
With a total budget of approximately €6M and a duration of 48 months (officially launched on June 1, 2026), the project establishes a cross-border initiative dedicated to securing European food chains against climate-driven biological risks.

The project acts as a strategic tech-enabler for the European agricultural sector, directly aligning its key outcomes with the targets of the EU Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy. SENTRY is structured around three core operational targets.
Pesticide Reduction
Providing actionable data to cut down unnecessary chemical treatments by enabling hyper-localized, precise phytosanitary interventions.
Post-Harvest Efficiency
Extending product shelf-life and reducing food waste from the open field directly to the supermarket shelves.
Climate Resilience
Enhancing territorial risk assessment capabilities across diverse European agro-climatic zones.
A multi-actor consortium across Europe
The governance of SENTRY brings together a multi-actor consortium of 21 academic, research and industry partners spanning 7 European nations, ensuring an agile management structure capable of bridging scientific excellence, industrial scalability, and field-level agricultural experience.
Coordinated by Stremble Ventures Ltd (Cyprus), the project guarantees open science compliance, making public datasets and software outputs accessible to accelerate innovation across the continent.
