This includes information about storage duration, the criteria for determining retention periods, and the options for deactivating or deleting accounts.
All platforms transfer personal data to the United States. These transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.
3. Cookies and Tracking by the Platforms
When you visit a platform — regardless of whether you visit our profile — the platform places cookies and similar trackers on your device. If you are logged in, the platform can track that you have visited our profile and how you have interacted with it. Even if you are not logged in, tracking may occur via your IP address, browser details, or cookies.
The information collected may be used by the platform to build interest-based profiles and display personalised advertising.

4. Data Processing When You Interact with Our Profiles
We operate our social media profiles for the following purposes:
- Presenting the SENTRY project, its activities, results, and events
- Communicating with followers and interested parties
- Linking to other online content (project website, publications)
On our profiles, you can follow us, interact with our posts (like, comment, share, save), mention our profile, and send us private messages. If you contact us through a social media platform, please consider whether you wish to share the relevant information via that platform or whether another means of contact (e.g., email via our website) may be more appropriate.
Where you contact us via a platform, the legal basis for our processing is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest consists in disseminating information about the project and responding to your enquiry.
Please note that — depending on your privacy settings — we may be able to access the information stored in your public profile (such as your name, profile picture, or affiliation), as can any other user of the platform.
5. Analytics and Statistics
Our profiles use the analytics features provided by the respective platforms. These provide aggregated statistics about visitors and interactions. The statistics typically include:
- Reach: Accounts reached, profile visits, website clicks
- Content interaction: Likes, comments, shares, saves, video views
- Audience information: Aggregated demographics (location, age range), activity times
We receive aggregated data only. A reference back to individual persons is only possible where you have actively interacted with our profile (followed, liked, commented, messaged). Otherwise, we cannot identify the persons behind the analytical events.
The legal basis for our use of analytics features is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest consists in gaining insights into how our content is received and in improving our project communication accordingly.
